Jade Kemp

Architectural Designer / Director

I created Jade Architecture NZ In 2016, and have been working alongside families and developers alike, to turn their ideas into reality. With a background in Architectural Design and the more technical building science fields, I hope to bring clients a unique skillset to service all their architectural needs during the design and build process.

My goal has always been to further my passion for good design based around the needs of the building users, and I have started that by setting myself up in the residential space.

I featured in the NZ Institute of Building Surveyors Journal if you would like to read my article here

After completing a Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Certificate in Interior Design, I started my career as a Kitchen Designer for a Christchurch designer kitchen manufacturer. After gaining some industry experience, I moved on to become a junior Architectural Designer at a small North Canterbury architectural design practice.

As my residential design experience grew, I moved up to Intermediate Designer, and gained my Design 1 LBP. This role was varied and included residential new build design, residential renovation design, light industrial and commercial fit-outs.

Over the years I have also undertaken on more complex roles such as weathertightness remediation design, and have also gained my Design 2 LBP. In 2018 I became a Registered Building Surveyor, and have experience with a variety of building surveying projects across the building surveying and design disciplines; from building defect reports, weathertightness surveying, weathertightness design, weathertightness remediation design review and fire and chemical remediation design. Although I don’t offer these specific building surveying services under Jade Architecture, these skills have become integral in good weathertight design.
